RESEARCH ACTIVITY
The research activity is related to Structural and Earthquake Engineering, as well as to Structural Rehabilitation. It is based on theoretical and numerical elaborations, and experimental tests. The main research topics are:
1) Assessment and structural rehabilitation of masonry constructions;
2) Vulnerability of constructions, typological classification and seismic risk;
3) Design problems and vehicle-track-structure interaction in railway bridges.
Related to his scientific activities Prof. Liberatore was or is:
– Member of the Italian Seismic Code Committee (Masonry Constructions Sub-Committee) of the Ministry of Public Works since 2012;
– Member of the Steering Committee of ANIDIS (Italian National Association of Earthquake Engineering) since 2001;
– Member of the Scientific Committees of the ANIDIS Italian Congress on Earthquake Engineering since 2001;
– Invited specialist of the European Rail Research Institute Committee: “Permissible deflection of steel and composite bridges for velocities greater than 160 km/h”;
– Invited specialist of the European Rail Research Institute Committee: “Rail bridges for speed V greater than 220 km/h – Conditions of dynamic deformation”;
– Coordinator of the ReLUIS Project “Definition and development of databases for risk evaluation, emergency planning and management”;
– Reviewer of PRIN Projects for MIUR (Ministry of University and Research);
– Reviewer for international scientific journals (Engineering Structures, Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Computers and Structures, Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, International Journal of Architectural Heritage, Natural Hazards).
