Description:
The “Progetti d’Ingegneria” received from the Town Council of Norma the task of finishing the municipal cemetery.
Our studio has designed and directed the works of construction of two blocks destined to small private chapels, as also two blocks for niches.
The proposed architecture has favoured the stylistic simplicity and shape regularity, using covering materials according to the local traditions (bricks, travertine, peperino).
Furthermore, we proposed to recover the existing structure constituted by a thin reinforced concrete vault, resting on slender pillars.
This structure, used as cover for an outdoor altar, has been then conceived as the cemetery chapel, putting under the earlier covering a new disposition of volumes.
This new disposition of volumes brought a great seismic improvement, as the former structure was characterized by a significant vulnerability when subject to the effect of the earthquake.
